Thamnophis scaliger

These are babies of Thamnophis scaliger, the Mexican Alpine Shorttail Garter Snake.

They are  born in May/June 2016 and  now 4 – 5 months old.

This is a very small and highly interesting species of Garter Snake from the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt; Adult females are 40 – 50 cm total length.
