Thamnophis Eques Scotti: Scott’s Mexican Garter Snake
Scott’s Garter Snake are been found in Lake Magdalene.
This lake lies at 1380 meters altitude in the Mexican state of Jalisco, and it forms the remains of a lake that was once much bigger.
In November 2007, I observed this subspecies in Mexico.
The animals are mainly found in and alongside the lake.
It is a beautiful sight to these large Garter Snakes with broad strokes seen swim and floating on the water.
One of the females was huge and would be, with a complete tail, about 128 cm long; a new record!
