Flame Eastern Garter Snakes (Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis)
This special red morph (named “Flame”) occurs naturally only in a small area in south western Quebec in Canada. In some of these populations a small portion of the snakes have beautiful bright orange or red lateral stripes.

The red cheeks (supralabial scales) can only be seen on a few specimens.
A portion of the Eastern Garter Snakes in this area have no trace of red, they are deep black with 3 vivid yellow stripes. Many other snakes have colors somewhere in between.

The reddest female on the pictures is 2,5 years old and just had her first shed after ending hibernation. Hopefully she is pregnant.

The more orange colored female is only 1,5 years old. Two real Canadian beauties.
