My breeding group of the Puget Sound Garter Snake (Thamnophis sirtalis pickeringii) warming up after a 13 – 15 week hibernation.
The males all hibernated for 13 weeks, but I took out the females over a 2 weeks period (13 – 15 weeks) to prevent they will all give birth simultaneously.
Capturing the true colors under artificial light using my cell phone (my good camera broke down) is difficult so I tried to enhance the colors a bit. But in real life the snakes look much better.
My entire breeding group is very blue, except one of the youngest females on the picture (Captive bred 2019) which has more yellow stripes and even a bit red on the sides.
I expect this one to remain more yellow then blue, although it is possible she will turn more blue over time.
