March 17th 2020 the first babies of the year were born. A very good start of the season, and I am very happy with them.

Two female Thamnophis sirtalis pickeringii, the Puget Sound Garter Snake gave birth directly after each other.

This beautiful garter snake, with its striking black and blue coloration is usually one of the first to give birth, usually approximately 3 months after hibernation has ended.

As you can see the babies are born with whitish or yellowish stripes which turn into blue stripes after some several months.
