Last month I had a litter of an amazing species: Thamnophis sumichrasti or Sumichrast’s Garter Snake.
Finally after working for 4 years with this rare endemic species from Mexico on March 15th 2022 the babies were born.
This species occurs in two pattern morphs, a spotted morph and a blotched morph and for many years they were thought to be 2 different species (Thamnophis sumichrasti and Thamnophis phenax).
The mother is spotted and the father is blotched and both morphs occurred in this litter.
