Day 8: The week of the Mexican Garter Snake
Today I present you the last subspecies: Thamnophis eques virgatenuis, the Durango Highlands Garter Snake.
The other 3 described subspecies (carmenensis, patzcuaroensis and megalops) I cannot show you; I only know them from literature and I have never seen them in real life.
My breeding group of T.e.virgatenuis consist of captive bred specimens originating from the area surrounding El Salto (Durango) in Mexico where they occur at an altitude of approximately 3300 meters.
This subspecies can withstand a 3 month hibernation period at 2 – 8 ⁰C without a problem.
