Day 1: The week of the Mexican Garter Snake
In the coming days I want to show the beauty and variation of several subspecies of Thamnophis eques.
Today March 27th 2016 I will start with Thamnophis eques eques, The Mexican Garter Snake.
My breeding group consist of wildcaught and captive bred specimens originating from the Toluca area in Mexico where they occur at an altitude of approximately 2600 meters.
On the pictures you can see juveniles born July 2015 at an age of 8 months. This subspecies has well defined yellow or whitish stripes on a chocolate brown dorsal coloration. This pattern they keep also as an adult.
