A few pictures taken late April 2022 of my 2021 captive bred Viperine Water Snakes, Natrix maura.

They are now about 7 months old and feeding and growing well.

Born quite grayish they develop their final colors over the course of the first 6 – 12 months roughly.

Back in 1986 my first breeding success with snakes was with this highly aquatic member of the Natricinae subfamily from southern France.

And I have been breeding them about each year ever since.

A fantastic species to keep in captivity.
